You know what you want to catch, but you may not know how to catch it! You'll find a wealth of information here: what gear and tackle to use, which lures and presentations will work the best, how to locate the fish and which baits are the most effective. You'll find a Species Guide to help you identify your catch, and loads of fishing tips and pointers. Along with your fishing tales, which I hope you will submit to me for publishing on my website, and fishing secrets you might want to share with us, we can all learn a great deal more about fishing, resulting in trophy catches for all. Here's a great way to train at home. Take a plastic coffee cup and put about an inch of sand on the bottom. Place the cup about 25' away and start pitching into it. As you get better, you can take some of the sand out with the idea you want to lay the jig in the cup without tipping it over. When you can do this on a consistent basis, you are ready to go after bass in heavy cover - on their terms.

FISHING POINTERS & TIPS #4 Choosing The Right Rod A 6'6" rod with a medium heavy action designed with a stiffer tip to give you better sensitivity when working worms or jigs through heavy cover. You'll feel every tick, bump, slide and bite. Tip: in heavy cover pitch your worm or jig over a weed or small twig and work up and down in the same spot for a few seconds. Give the fish time to come to you - don't jerk the bait away before the fish makes its stalk. Remember, in heavy cover, big fish are cautious.
